Short-term Care
Individualized therapy and treatment is provided by skilled clinicians in our motivational therapy gym. Our facility is designed with the very latest therapy assessment, monitoring, and treatment modalities. Our rehabilitation strategy is tailored to the individual. We do this by simulating an environment that resembles the home environment as much as possible.
Pulmonary Program
Sterling Oaks Rehabilitation has a Pulmonary Medical Specialty unit. Our goal is to maximize the patient’s level of independence and autonomy and increase the quality of life regardless of the condition or prognosis. The pulmonary team on this unit is lead by an independent Pulmonologist (a physician with expertise in managing conditions of the lungs) and staff trained specifically in the management of these conditions.
This unit focuses on the medical management and rehabilitation of those who have pulmonary conditions (conditions of the lungs and airways like COPD and pneumonia). We have oxygen that is piped in through the walls as well as medical air and wall suctioning available.
In an effort to maximize recovery and function based on individual and condition- specific treatment planning, our clinicians provide services such as specialty pulmonary function/exercise capacity testing, oxygen conservation techniques, and endurance training. We also provide pulmonary support groups/education as well as pulmonary specific outcomes/ condition impact measurements.
Pulmonary patients receive care at all levels, in a variety of treatment categories. At this time, we do not take ventilator patients (although this is in the near future) but we do provide care to patients who have recently been weaned from ventilator dependency.
Other types of pulmonary services include:
- Tracheostomy – new – weanable and non-weanable
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
- BIPap
- C-Pap
- Mini-Nebulizers
Physician Services
Sterling Oaks Rehabilitation has partnered with local hospital systems to ensure continuity of care. These independent physicians also utilize nurse practitioners so when they are not here, they have licensed and certified advanced practice nurses at the facility to ensure that trained eyes are available and ready to assist in making informed healthcare decisions.
